WASHINGTON — In honor of Veterans Day, Congressman Tony Wied (R-WI) announced the introduction of the Supporting Troops’ Access to Recognition Services (STARS) Act, legislation that will ensure continued in-person DEERS/RAPIDS services for those who have served our country.
WASHINGTON — Today, Congressman Tony Wied introduced legislation to rename a post office in Waupaca County after local World War II and Korean War hero Master Sergeant Melvin O. Handrich.
DE PERE — Congressman Tony Wied (WI-08) sent a letter to Acting Director of the Defense Manpower Data Center Katie Griffin urging the reopening of the DEERS/RAPIDS processing facility in Green Bay to allow active-duty servicemen, reservists, veterans, and their beneficiaries to access military bases and important benefits at VA hospitals and clinics.
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Congressman Tony Wied (R-WI-08) and U.S. Senator Tammy Baldwin (D-WI) introduced a bipartisan bill to honor veterans who participated in Operation End Sweep with the Vietnam Service Medal. Currently, participants in Operation End Sweep, a mission to clear dangerous mines from Haiphong harbor and surrounding waters in North Vietnam after the war concluded, are ineligible for this service medal because their service took place after the United States had officially withdrawn from Vietnam in January 1973.
WASHINGTON – Congressman Tony Wied (R-Wis.) and Congresswoman Linda T. Sánchez (D-Calif.) yesterday introduced a bipartisan resolution designating the last Saturday of March as "Welcome Home Vietnam Veterans Day."
The resolution provides long-overdue recognition to thousands of Vietnam War veterans for their selfless service to the nation. The last Saturday of March, which this year falls on March 29, marks the day when the final U.S. combat troops completed their service and departed Vietnam.
